I was eager to get this book and immediately started to read it through to find out how in the world the author, Roger Troy Wilson, lost the weight and how he has managed to keep it off by "eating all the calories and carbs you want to lose weight". It seems to me to be sort of a modified Atkins/South Beach plan that uses fruit as it's staple food.
It didn't take me long to become disappointed as there is a huge list of foods that are forbidden or off limits. I do understand the premise; fill yourself up with "good" stuff and you won't crave the bad stuff, but any diet that makes someone so focused on food most of the day will, for most people, fail in the long run. Sure there will always be success stories (and the book has plenty of testimonials) for any diet and I'm thrilled for the author and his wife and others who have found success with this program - I'm just not convinced that it's a healthy and/or balanced way for the average person to approach weight loss. So definitely give a copy of the book to your doctor before beginning just to get his/her feedback.
I don't think I'd
recommend the book to others but I'd give it a few "stars" for the pretty good recipes and the interesting story about his personal struggle.
Thomas Nelson has provided me with a complimentary copy in exchange for an unbiased review.
