Jungle Warfare - a book for Salespeople

Looking to keep Jesus Christ first in your job as a full time Sales Professional?  This might be the book for you.

I received my copy of

last week and finally had a chance to read through it and summarize my thoughts.

First, here's the official description:

Could a WWII Basic Field Manual on Jungle Warfare have any words of wisdom for sales and business professionals today? Yes – and it may even provide more. Christopher A. Cunningham has taken a prized family gift: his grandfather’s Jungle Warfare manual, and adapted its rules of engagement to fit the basic needs of the Christian sales person who is on the front lines of business every day.

The parallels are obvious: Stay fit. Keep your wits about you. Know your enemy. Serve your leader well. In today’s unsure business climate, those who find a way to keep their faith intact while pushing through the difficulties of market downturns are the ones who will be rewarded. This book is about fighting the good fight and finding inspiration even while crawling through enemy territory.

Although I wasn't overly bowled over by this book - as I'm not a full time sales person with quotas, etc., I appreciate the author's desire to turn all of life, including the day to day struggles, etc., over to the Lordship of Christ. He uses a lot of scripture, cleverly uses the old army field manual as a jumping off point for the daily devotionals and has a very relaxed and easy to read style that would make this book a nice thing to have on the coffee table, in your briefcase or even in the bathroom for an early morning read before you head out the door.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com  book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
